Daniel Achille B. J, born in Belgium in 1940, was the son of Bernard Ceuppens and Annie Van Campenhout. He migrated with his family at the age of 8 years old, with other Belgian families, to Capitan Miranda, in Itapua, and finally settled as dairy farmers in Fernando de la Mora.
In 1963, Daniel Achille B. J. met his future wife, who was working as a hobby, on fertile egg incubation and chicken breeding. The first small incubator with which the industry was started had a capacity of only 100 eggs; those fertile eggs were brought from Buenos Aires.
1964 was the starting point of everything that would come next, since it was the year when Mrs. Blanca and Mr. Daniel joined their lives in marriage, and settled in a land bought with a credit in Capiata; in 1967, a modest project was initiated that would eventually turn into the leading poultry industry in the country. The official history of "Granja Avícola La Blanca S.A." is always closely associated with the founder’s lives.
At that time, the consumption of poultry products, especially chicken, was limited to special dishes for holidays, and people who did not have their own home grown chickens used to buy them in a small shop in Asuncion, where they could choose the animal and then prepare it at home. When poultry breeding started at a higher scale, Mr. Daniel and Mrs. Blanca began to sell their products to families first and then to restaurants.
During the 1970’s, when the "Newcastle disease" epidemic propagated among the poultry sector, Mr. Daniel decided to sell most of his dairy business, in order to invest in the recovery of the poultry, with incredible results that set the landmark of the modern poultry breeding in the country.
Afterwards, "Granja Avícola La Blanca S.A." became the only company of that sector in Paraguay with farm incubators, breeding and fattening farms as well as processing plants of balanced nutritional feeds, and also a quality control laboratory. The company is in constant search of innovation and is adapting itself to the technological requirements of the poultry industry.
It is the first Paraguayan poultry company that exports to countries like Argentina, Russia, Venezuela and also to Africa and the Middle East, thanks to the quality of its products, with the application of the GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point), both certified by LATU Systems (Uruguay).
Mr. Daniel has also conducted projects for Brangus cattle breeding and the development of his own brand of dairy products: “La Pradera”.
He has won several awards for his capacity as a leader and innovator in many fields. His genuine concern for his employees and collaborators has turned him in more than a boss to them.
The 3 daughters born from the Ceuppens Talavera marriage: Ana, Blanca, continue with the poultry business, keeping up with the heritage and the philosophy of their father and the excellence in their work.
The Company is in constant approach to the natural conditions required for the development of breeding, feeding, control, processing, packaging and distribution of PECHUGON poultry products, aiming at fulfilling the most demanding international quality standards, in order to provide its customers with its quality products, which are consistent with the company’s motto: a natural delicatessen.
“To stand as the poultry company that maximizes both its position as market leader and the social interests”.
To be in constant search of excellence and quality, always available to address any eventuality and ready to solve problems, to be achieved through our working philosophy, based on a dignifying teamwork, which allows the integral development of each of our employees.
The slaughter-plant works under the HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) program, a preventive system that allows the identification of specific dangers and adopts control measures which guarantees the production quality.
Since 2013, "Granja Avícola La Blanca S.A." has considered the development of this program as an essential step for the efficient management of the productive process and the maintenance of the highest quality standards, in order to deliver the best and tastiest products to the consumers.
The company is currently working in the implementation of the ISO 22000 system which guarantees the quality of the production process and management. The company has all the state-of-the-art infrastructure and technology for the complete poultry production cycle:
Breeding and Reproduction plants: This cycle starts with the import of newborn chicken breeders which are. They are bred in the BREEDING PLANTS for 23 weeks. From there on, they are moved to the REPRODUCTION PLANTS, where they start to produce fertile eggs after 25 weeks of breeding.
Incubators & fattening process farms: In the INCUBATORS, the eggs are kept for 18 days at the same temperature, humidity and sterilized conditions. After that, they are transported to the HATCHING UNIT, where they remain for 3 days. After they are born, the chickens are vaccinated and sent to the FATTENING PLANT, where they are bred under all bio-security norms and in accordance with adequate feeding management standards.
Balanced feeds plant: In the balanced feeds plant, feeds based on corn, soya, soya pellets, vitamins and amino acids are produced, which provide a healthy and natural growing to the chickens. This diet also makes Pechugon chickens’ meat tender and consistent, with an excellent flavor.
Slaughter plants: In between 38 and 40 days of age, the chickens are removed to the SLAUGHTERHOUSE and food processing plant, where the meat gets ready to be consumed in different presentations.
Laboratories: THE QUALITY CONTROL LABORATORY supervises the entire production cycle, including the compositional analysis of the basic ingredients used for the balanced food, the microbiologic analysis of the water and effluents, the physical-chemical (external) analysis, and the micro-biological analysis of surfaces and meat.
Pechugon chickens are bred under an “environmental-friendly” philosophy in our farms, surrounded by green spaces with pure air, in a traditional manner and with the necessary time for the development and growth of the chickens, based on a 100% natural nutritional system.
Our farmers and professional staff carefully ensure the compliance with the strictest standards of bio-security. The animals receive all the natural care, without contravening the environmental standards.
